Data and Trend Analysis (DATA) Refugees and Migrants at the Western Balkans Route Regional Overview, covering period April - June 2019, describes key trends in migrations in the region, detailing information about the number of people on the move, demography (age, sex, country of origin, etc), behavioral patterns, and routes in use - with a focus on children, particularly unaccompanied children.

Key trends showcased in this report:

At least 10,6000 migrant and refugee arrivals in the Balkans made this migration route one of two most travelled European migratory routes in the second quarter of 2019.

The route through Bosnia and Herzegovina remained the key route in the Western Balkans

More than 88,000 refugees and migrants were present in the Balkans in the reporting period

Children make about one-third of all refugees and migrants transiting through the Balkans with many of them travelling alone
